Chris Lines is the Head of London Road Safety Unit, Transport for London . He has been in the transport business over 38 years, joining the Road Research Laboratory (subsequently TRL) in 1970, where he worked on road pricing. This was followed by a spell looking into communicating with drivers and then time in traffic signals where he worked on signal control software. In 1990, Mr Lines was appointed Head of Traffic Safety and then Head of Traffic & Transport in 1992. Between 1994 and 1997 Chris also worked with the Directors to buy the Transport Research Laboratory and set it up as a Company Limited by Guarantee. He then spent time as Head of Business Development for TRL’s Transportation Division, before joining Transport for London in February 2003 as head of the London Road Safety Unit.
